WELCOME... The first log cabins in America were built by pioneers, and in a very real sense, all log homes stand as monuments to their courage and industry. While no one invented log cabins, there was an individual who invented modern log home construction techniques. His name was Bruce Ward, and in the winter of "1923" he built a CEDAR log cabin on a lake in northern Maine. He invented a special interlocking technique and the WARD LOG CABIN COMPANY was founded. Remember, that we are America's oldest manufacturer. No one else even approaches our experience level in any aspect of log home manufacturing. WE insist on CEDAR because unlike pine or other woods (used by most of our competitors) CEDAR is the most resistant to insects, rotting, warping and twisting. It also has a higher insulation value per inch than any other native construction wood. |
